Welcome to the first edition of Crosspath Coaching Corner. Here I share reflections from real coaching conversations, lessons I'm learning and practical insights to help you navigate career change with greater clarity and confidence. Everything I share is anonymous, but the lessons are real.
The breakthrough wasn't getting a job
Recently, one of my clients said something that stopped me in my tracks.
She had been out of work for some time and, like many people navigating career transition, had experienced another round of disappointing rejections.
It would have been easy to focus on what hadn't happened. No job offer. No breakthrough interview.
Instead, I asked her one simple question: "What are you most proud of since we started working together?"
Her answer surprised me. She didn't mention interviews. She didn't mention her CV. She didn't mention job applications.
I'm most proud of becoming much more intentional about my career. Rather than simply applying for jobs, I now think more strategically about where I want to work, what kind of organisation will suit me and what I need for a sustainable and fulfilling career.
She also reflected:
I've become much better at articulating my experience and recognising the value of what I have to offer.
Hearing those words reminded me of something I see time and time again. The biggest breakthroughs rarely happen when someone gets the job. They happen much earlier.
The transformation no one sees
We often measure career success by visible milestones. A promotion. A new role. A LinkedIn announcement.
But the most meaningful transformation is often invisible.
It's the moment someone stops doubting themselves and starts recognising the value they bring. It's the moment they stop applying for every opportunity and start choosing opportunities that genuinely fit. It's the moment they reconnect with who they are.
In my experience, that's where lasting career reinvention begins.
Why Crosspath Coaching starts with Reflect
This is why my coaching framework begins with Reflect. Not with a CV. Not with LinkedIn. Not with interview preparation.
Before we talk about what's next, we pause. We explore your strengths, your values, what gives you energy and what success means to you now.
Only then do we Refocus, rebuilding confidence and reconnecting with your professional identity. Only then do we Reinvent, taking practical action that's aligned with who you are and where you want to go.
Because while CVs, LinkedIn profiles and interviews all matter, they become far more powerful when they're built on a foundation of clarity.
One question for you
If your current job title disappeared tomorrow, how would you describe who you are professionally? Not what you do. Not the organisation you work for. Who are you?
Because I believe career reinvention isn't just about changing jobs. It's about rediscovering yourself.
Thank you for reading the first edition of Crosspath Coaching Corner. If this resonated with you, I'd love to hear your thoughts. And if you know someone who's feeling stuck or uncertain about what's next, perhaps share it with them.

Reflect. Refocus. Reinvent.
